About the station
The Ecowitt weather station is installed in the Knielingen district of Karlsruhe. It continuously measures temperature, humidity, air pressure, rainfall (piezo sensor), wind speed and direction, solar radiation, illuminance and UV. The GW2000A gateway itself adds indoor temperature and humidity.
All sensors transmit wirelessly to the Ecowitt gateway, which forwards fresh readings to my Home Assistant instance – a powerful open-source home automation platform – every 60 seconds.
This website reads the latest values directly from Home Assistant via its API and refreshes them automatically while the page is open, so you always see the current conditions from my local weather station. The derived “condition” is based only on the rain sensor and solar radiation – it is not a forecast.
The weather data is also uploaded automatically to Weathercloud via API, where you can view the current conditions as well.
